| I just recently started painting again. Psychology graduate school had been taking up my time, but the program unfortunately fell apart after the storm. However, now I love what I am doing! I am painting, doing photography, and making prints for myself and other artists. |

It does not have to be digital, however, digital cameras will save you time and money! 2. Most standard digital software can be useful to perform basic image adjustments i.e., cropping, image brightness, contrast and file size. 3. If you use a non-digital camera, have slides of your works, and/or already have printed photographs then your local drug store can transfer the images on to a CD for you. How to Photograph Art. 1. It is preferable to not have the art behind glass, however, you can still take sufficient photographs of your art behind glass. 2. If your art is behind glass then Do Not use a direct flash or lighting. Lights should be at an angle to your art. Look into your camera to make sure you can’t see a bright reflection on the painting. 3. Glossy finishes can also cause bright reflections so treat them as though they are behind glass. 4. Try to fill your camera view with your painting only or crop the image after taking it. 5. Try to keep your camera level with your painting. The easiest way to do this is by hanging your painting flat against the wall or laying it on the floor. How to Give Me the Images and Your Bio 1. Either hand me a CD with the images and the Bio at the meetings, Bio should be in a Word format, or email them to me. 2. The best way to email the images and Bio is to: • Temporarily create a new file on your desk top = Right Click on anywhere on your desktop where there is no icon – Highlight New – Left Click on Folder. • • Type your name as the folder name = when you first create the new folder the name area should be highlighted for you to type the title or Right Click on the folder and Left Click on rename. • 1. After you create the new folder then you should put the images and Bio in that folder by either copy and paste or by dragging them to the new folder: • Hold the Left Click on the image – Drag it over the new folder – Release the Left Click • Or, Right Click on the image – Left Click copy, then, Right Click on the new folder – Left Click paste 1. Once you have the images and Bio in the folder then you should compress the folder • Right Click on the folder – Highlight send to – Left Click compressed folder • Note: Most of you will have compression software already installed on your computer. If not, you can download WinZip for free. Just type WinZip into an Internet search. They will try to sell you an upgraded version, but you don’t need it. • You may get a warning message. If so, click Yes or Accept • • After you compress the folder your computer will create a new folder with your filename.zip. 2. Now you are ready to email the compressed folder as an attachment to azakem1@cox.net Note: I can receive large email files on my computer, so you should not have any problem with file size unless your email provider has a restriction on attachment size. There are many ways to send images; however, I find this method is best for the sender and receiver of the email. Once you send the file, you can delete the folder from your desktop. Please email me questions on this topic so that I can post the answers on the web site. I hope you found this helpful. |
