Jan Wilken
Jan Wilken's art career is a work in progress. After studing with John McCrady in the mid 60's, oil was Jan's medium of choice until the mid 90's when she switched to watercolor which remains her passion today. Because she loves the challege and impact of large paintings, Jan decided to work in acrylic on canvas for the past two years but continues to paint and recently teach watercolors. She works in her Harahan based studio but for a brief time enjoyed a studio in her cottage a block off the beach in Waveland, Mississippi which was short lived due to Katrina. Her affinity for the Mississippi Gulf Coast continues and she exhibits works in Maggie Mays and Treasurers of the Bay in Bay-Waveland, Mississippi as well as Hall of Frame on Canal Bloulevard in New Orleans and LaBoulevard in Metairie.
