Diana Cangemi
Although drawing and painting have been lifelong passions of mine, I pursued my career in the performing arts, obtaining my bachelor's degree in piano and voice from Indiana University, in Bloomington, Indiana, and my master's degree in vocal performance from Loyola University in New Orleans. However, I never lost the desire to paint that was instilled in me on my 9th birthday when my parents bought me my first easel, oil paints, brushes and canvases. My favorite medium is oils, but I also enjoy pastels, watercolors and pen & ink. I have taken classes at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts, and over the years, have been fortunate to have studied with many talented and inspiring artists, including Dottie Billiu-Hensche, Ted Goerschner, Alan Flatman, Sammy Britt and Georgia Taylor. I am a member of the New Orleans Art Association, the Metairie Art Guild, the Jefferson Art Guild and the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild. I received the Artist of the Month award by the Jefferson Art Guild, and my paintings have won many ribbons in area shows. I have had 2 solo shows at the World Trade Center, and my paintings are displayed in homes and businesses throughout the United States.
